![]() This recommendation comes from one of my students. As a Google Apps for Education school, we often do much of our work in Google Docs, Google Presentation, and Google Spreadsheets here on campus. Do you have Google mobile apps on your phone or tablet though? Having the free Drive, Document, or Spreadsheet apps on your phone allows you to both view and edit while away from school or home. Even better for some of us: you can work offline with these apps as well. Google just recently added Slides to their mobile app offerings. Available in iOS and Android. Click here to check them out.

Canva![]() Each week I'll be highlighting web or device apps I think you might find fun or useful. This week's app is CANVA. Canva is a free web-based app with all sorts of templates: presentations, documents, Facebook and Twitter headers and posts, podcast covers, invites, fliers, and more. You can use Canva's library of free backgrounds, graphics, titles, and bubbles or upload your own. While the app is free with an extensive library of free elements, they do have premium backgrounds and graphics at $1 per element. It's drag and drop and simple to use. They also have online tutorials, tips, and FAQs to help you design. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the service and abide by Canva's terms of use with regards to copyright and licenses. Much of what you might want to do educationally or personally would fall under their acceptable use but when in doubt check their terms (they have a nice plain-language interpretation beside the legalese). I created this graphic in Canva for a September event in the library. Try it out. I'd love to hear (or see) how you are using it. |
